How has Peddi performed at the box office?
Peddi took a bumper opening at the box office with a collection of Rs 51 crore. The sports drama, featuring Janhvi as Achiyamma, earned Rs 18.50 crore on its preview day. On day two, the movie witnessed a dip in its collection, and minted Rs 26.90 crore. It was followed by
Peddi making Rs 29.10 crore on day three, Rs 32.15 crore on day four, Rs 12.05 crore on day five and Rs 9.65 crore on day seven at the ticket window.
Why did Peddi face backlash?
Meanwhile, the makers of
Peddi were at the receiving end of criticism after the film was released in theatres. A section of social media called out the makers for hypers*xualisation of Janhvi's character in the project. After receiving backlash, filmmaker Buchi Babu Sana apologised and assured that the controversial portions would be altered. Later, in an interview with Indian Express, the director confirmed that the portions were removed.
