of Bridgerton know that the fourth season is adapting Julia Quinn’s novel An Offer from a Gentleman. The romance novel is a version of Cinderella as the lead character Sophie, played by Yerin Ha, sneaks away to a ball where she meets Benedict (Luke Thompson). The Netflix series introduces the new heroine, who works for the Gun and Li family, who are also attending the famed Bridgerton masquerade ball. In true Cinderella style, the family is made up of a widow, Araminta, and her daughters Rosamund and Posy, who work poor Sophie to the bone. Find out more about their backstories below.

The twice-married and twice-widowed Araminta is similar to the evil stepmother from the Cinderella tale. As the show begins, she makes it known that she has two daughters ready to be married, and it is obvious that her older daughter, Rosamund, is her favourite. She mistreats Sophie and makes her a maid who is more like a slave, by making her work from morning to day. Araminta is ambitious and wants to align with a powerful and titled family, so who better than the wealthy and powerful Bridgertons?

Scottish actress Katie Leung plays Araminta, and Harry Potter fans will recognise her as Hogwarts student Cho Chang from Ravenclaw House. The actress also voices Caitlyn Kiramman in the Netflix animated series Arcane and has appeared in the series One Child, Strangers, Annika, and The Peripheral.Michelle Mao is Rosamund LiAraminta’s eldest daughter, Rosamund, is her most prized possession. The young woman is beautiful, but only on the outside. She is vain and unkind to Sophie. Eager to please her mother, she decides that she will nab Benedict as a husband this social season.

Michelle Mao, who plays the spoiled young woman, previously starred in the series Morgan's Secret Admirer and Surfside Girls. Last year, she acted in Kogonada’s film A Big Bold Beautiful Journey and headlines his latest feature Zi with Haley Lu Richardson. It had its world premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.Isabella Wei is Posy LiAraminta’s younger daughter, Posy Li, is making her debut this year. The sweet but silly young woman likes to talk a lot and is looked down on by her mother and older sister. She is empathetic towards Sophie and sometimes tries to be her friend. Like Penelope before her, she could be considered a wallflower.

Before starring in Bridgerton, Isabelle Wei worked on the TV show 1899 and the film The Crow. Netflix audiences might recognise her from the spy thriller Black Doves, starring Keira Knightley.
