Ammu Abhirami, born on 16 March 2000 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, comes from a Tamil-speaking family. Her father, RK Sundar, works in Tamil cinema as a sound engineer and composer, exposing her to the film world from a young age. Ammu began her journey as a child anchor on
Tamil Pesu Thanga Kaasu on the channel Makkal TV.
Ammu’s initial on-screen appearances included small roles in Tamil films like
Thalapathy Vijay's Bairavaa, En Aaloda Seruppa Kaanom, and Karthi's Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru, where she played supporting characters such as the heroine’s friend or the protagonist’s sister. Her breakthrough came in 2018 with the psychological thriller In
Vishu Vishal's Ratsasan, where she portrayed a schoolgirl caught in a serial killer investigation.
Her performance was praised convincingly showing fear. She later appeared in
Thuppakki Munai (2018) and the Telugu remake Rakshasudu (2019), as well as Vetrimaaran’s critically acclaimed drama

Ammu Abirami On Working in The Raja Saab
In The Raja Saab, Ammu plays Prabhas's grandmother, the younger version of Zarina Wahab’s character marking her significant Telugu debut. She was also seen playing the wife of Sanjay Dutt's character. She described the role as “a big launch” and said, “It’s very different from what I’ve done before, especially because I got a chance to work in a film starring Prabhas sir.”
Ammu also revealed her early struggles as a junior artist, sharing how difficult it was to work without basic facilities like restrooms. She added, “I try to make those around me feel comfortable… I am glad I am in a better position now, and I hope it changes for everyone.”
