with a predicted audience of around 125 million tuning in for Super Bowl LX, Hollywood is being cautious about dropping some new trailers for their upcoming films. This year, the New England Patriots are facing off against the Seattle Seahawks, and the going rate for a 30-second spot during the Super Bowl is around $8 million (or up to $10 million for latecomers). So, which are the upcoming feature films being teased by the top studios? The answer might surprise you. All the Hollywood movies that are expected to release trailers during Super Bowl LX are listed below.
Scream 7
Paramount Pictures will be releasing a new trailer for their latest film in the horror franchise releasing on February 27. Kevin Williamson is back in the director’s chair with returning cast Neve Campbell, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, David Arquette, Matthew Lillard, and Courteney Cox. Isabel May, Anna Camp, Michelle Randolph, Jimmy Tatro, and McKenna Grace also join the film, in which a new Ghostface killer targets Sidney Prescott's (Campbell) daughter.
Hoppers
The first Pixar animated film of the year releases on March 6. Directed by Daniel Chong, the sci-fi comedy follows an animal lover named Mabel (Piper Curda) whose mind is transferred into a lifelike robotic beaver in order to communicate with animals and save their habitat from destruction. Bobby Moynihan, Jon Hamm, Kathy Najimy, Dave Franco and Meryl Streep voice the characters in the original film.
Project Hail Mary
The new sci-fi film releasing on March 20 from Amazon MGM Studios is an adaptation of Andy Weir's novel of the same name. Starring Ryan Gosling, Sandra Hüller, Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung, and Milana Vayntrub, the mystery film revolves around astronaut Ryland Grace, who wakes up on a spacecraft with no memory of himself or his mission. It is co-directed by Oscar winners Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
The sequel to
The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023) is releasing in theatres on April 1. Chris Pratt and Charlie Day are back as the voices of plumbers Mario and Luigi, respectively, who befriend new character Yoshi and join Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy) and Toad (Keegan-Michael Key) on an adventure into outer space to face off against Bowser's (Jack Black) son, Bowser Jr (Benny Safdie). Brie Larson will also voice a princess from outer space.
Michael
The Lionsgate biopic on Michael Jackson is expected to release a pre-game ad. Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the late pop star's nephew Jaafar Jackson will be making his film debut in the musical. Colman Domingo plays Michael's father, Joe, while Nia Long is Katherine Jackson, Michael's mother. Miles Teller and Laura Harrier also star in the feature that will trace his journey from the Jackson 5 to his solo career.
The Mandalorian and Grogu
The trailer for the first
Star Wars movie since
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019),
The Mandalorian and Grogu, will be released by Disney. Releasing on May 22, the sci-fi film by Jon Favreau features a new adventure for the masked bounty hunter played by Pedro Pascal and his cute infant ward. Sigourney Weaver, Jeremy Allen White, and Jonny Coyne are also part of the cast.
Disclosure Day
Steven Spielberg is back in the sci-fi genre with the alien thriller
Disclosure Day, releasing on June 12. Fans are hoping to get some more information about its secretive plot. Emily Blunt, Josh O'Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Colman Domingo star in the upcoming film released by Universal Pictures.
Toy Story 5
Andrew Stanton is returning to Pixar for the latest instalment of the
Toy Story franchise. Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz (Tim Allen) and the gang face a new toy nemesis when Bonnie gets a tablet named Lilypad (voice of Greta Lee). The animated film is set for a June 19 release.
Minions 3
Pierre Coffin, who also voices the characters, is back for a new hilarious sequel which will focus on three new Minions. The sequel to
Minions: The Rise of Gru (2022) will follow James, Henry and Ed as they go to Hollywood in the 1920s to become filmmakers.
Minions & Monsters features the yellow gang meeting a robot and accidentally unleashing a monster. It releases on July 1.
Films that aren’t releasing any trailers during Super Bowl LX
Don’t expect any new trailers from Apple, Netflix and Warner Bros at the Super Bowl. Even Marvel won’t be releasing new spots for
Avengers: Doomsday or
Spider-Man: Brand New Day, breaking a 16-year tradition. Instead of the Super Bowl, Warner Bros. will promote DC Studios'
Supergirl during Animal Planet’s annual Puppy Bowl.
