Mani Ratnam's Film With Vijay Sethupathi To Begin This June
According to reports, the makers are planning to shoot a short promotional video later this month. This will likely serve as an introduction to the project before the main shoot begins. If reports are to be believed, the film’s principal photography is expected to commence in June. The shooting schedule is said to be relatively short, spanning around 40 days. While these details have not yet been officially confirmed by the production team, they indicate that the pre-production of the film is moving forward at a steady pace.
The film is being backed by prominent production houses Madras Talkies, Lyca Productions, and India Talkies. The film marks an exciting collaboration between Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi. Vijay Sethupathi has previously worked with Mani Ratnam in Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, which featured a stellar cast including Prakash Raj, Arvind Swamy, and Jyothika. In an interview, the actor has described working with Mani Ratnam as both intense and rewarding, highlighting the director’s precision and creative approach.

This announcement has thrilled fans, as it marks another collaboration between Rahman and Mani Ratnam, a duo known for timeless classics like Roja, Alaipayuthey, and more recently Thug Life.
On the work front, Vijay Sethupathi has multiple projects in various stages, including Gandhi Talks, Train, Arasan, and Jailer 2. Meanwhile, Sai Pallavi is preparing for the release of Ek Din and has also joined Dhanush’s upcoming film directed by Rajkumar Periasamy. She is also set to play Sita in the ambitious Ramayana adaptation.Mani Ratnam last directed Thug Life which released in 2025. Produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, Turmeric Media, and Madras Talkies, the film stars Kamal Haasan and Silambarasan TR in lead roles, alongside Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Abhirami, Ashok Selvan, Joju George, Nassar, Mahesh Manjrekar, Ali Fazal, Sanjana Krishnamoorthy, and Tanikella Bharani. The film marked the reunion of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam after their landmark 1987 collaboration Nayakan.
