Yami
Gautam cannot be any less proud of her filmmaker husband Aditya Dhar, for delivering Dhurandhar, the biggest films of 2025. She says filmmaking can be a very stressful job where you need to manage multiple departments, "I've never seen him lose his cool." The Haq actress claims as partners, they are two very private people who talk about ghar ka khana and what to watch on TV once they get back home from work. Yami first met Aditya during the making of National Award winning film Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019) in which she starred alonside Vicky Kaushal. She reveals it was only during the promotions that she realised their wave lengths matched, and love came calling.
Yami and Adiya prefer staying at home than going to Bollywood parties
During an interview with Humans of Bombay, Yami got candid about living a life with Aditya and how they keep it real amid fame. "I met Aditya on the sets of our film Uri, but it wasn’t the cameras or the scripts that brought us close – it was the quiet moments in between where I realized our wavelengths were perfectly in sync. We’re both private people, simple at heart, who prefer staying home over going to parties, choosing what to cook or watch rather than chasing the world’s idea of a ‘celebrity life.’" Yami said.
Recalling their intimate wedding in Himachal Pradesh
Yami and Aditya surprised fans by tying the knot at a private ceremony in 2021, in the backdrop of the mountains of her home state, Himachal Pradesh. With no paparazzi or celebrity noise, they exchanged vows in the presence of their families. Looking back, Yami shared, "We married in the hills of Himachal Pradesh, under the mighty Deodar trees. I wore my mother’s wedding saree, my grandmother’s Raida, and the traditional Pahadi nath gifted by my family. I did my own makeup, my sister styled my hair and in that simplicity, surrounded by love, I felt the most blessed.
Adiya's small gestures
Yami and Aditya keep their professional life separate while respecting each other's space. Though she says the way her husband does small things for her in the midst of making cinema is what keeps the foundation of their marriage strong. "Aditya has always shown me who he is through small, extraordinary gestures. A pillow brought during my third trimester so I’d be comfortable, offering his director’s chair to a makeup artist who had nowhere to sit, or cooking Rogan Josh for my family the first time. There was no grand proposal, no cinematic moment. We just… knew. And our families knew too. That, for me, has always been the foundation of love – the alignment of hearts and families alike," Yami expressed."Our love is a marriage of families. My parents felt secure with him, and his family felt at ease with me. Even professionally, we maintain boundaries, trusting and respecting each other’s space. Motherhood changed me in ways I never imagined. It’s empowering, humbling, and filled with joy," Yami added.
On motherhood
The 37-year-old said that while motherhood changed her, she discovered a new side to her. Yami and Aditya were blessed with a son, their first born in 2024. The actress credits Aditya for having her back. "With Aditya by my side, our love feels steady, calm, and real. No need for noise or display. Just peace, growth, and the quiet certainty that this is exactly where we’re meant to be," she said. "Aditya is a green forest!" Yami declared.
