actress Celina Jaitly's brother, Major (Retd.) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly has been detained in the United Arab Emirates for over a year. Since then, the actress has been fighting a long battle to secure the release of her brother. Now, the Delhi High Court has reportedly directed the Union of India to ensure legal aid for Celina's brother. It has apparently been mentioned by the Delhi HC that the actress's brother receives effective legal representation and that his family is aware of his condition and legal status.
Delhi HC hears Celina Jaitly's plea?
According to Hindustan Times report, Justice Sachin Datta heard the plea filed by Celina. Following that, he issued a notice to the Ministry of External Affairs. The Ministry was apparently asked to appoint a nodal officer to co-ordinate communication between the family and authorities in the UAE.For the unversed, Celina appeared in person at hearing, which was held today (November 3), the report suggests. The actress reportedly informed the court that she hasn't been able to speak to her brother after his alleged detention on September 6, 2024. Bar and Bench also reported that the Delhi HC has asked the government to file a detailed status report before the next hearing on December 4, 2025."Court- An attempt shall be made to ensure that contact between the petitioner and her brother is made, and detained person and his wife. Let a status report be filed. Depute a nodal office and apprise the family members as regards to the status of the detained and legal proceedings in UAE.
