Perin
Malde is ready to make a name for himself in Bollywood with his first movie, Bhooth Bangla. The Priyadarshan movie has already gotten a lot of attention, and for Perin, the journey is even more special because he surprisingly shares a special connection with the seasoned filmmaker. When Perin talked about working with senior actors on the set of Bhooth Bangla, he shared one of the most emotional and memorable times of his career so far. He revealed that his professional equation with director Priyadarshan goes back many years, long before this film happened.
DYK: Perin Malde Made His Big Screen Debut With Priyadarshan As A Child Artist?
Perin recalled that he had once worked as a child artist in
Shah Rukh Khan’s film
Billu (2009), which was also directed by Priyadarshan. He was just 9 years old at the time. Yes, you read that right! “Back in 2009, Priyadarshan sir directed this movie called
Billu. I was 9 years old, I was a junior artist, was on screen for just 2–3 seconds, where I give a flying kiss to Shah Rukh Khan, and he gives me a flying kiss back in his entry sequence,” Perin said.
He shared that this memory had almost faded over time, even for him and the director. But during the shoot of
Bhooth Bangla, an unexpected moment brought it all back. He further revealed that one day on the
Bhooth Bangla set, they had some free time between takes. He showed Priyadarshan that clip and asked him if he remembered it. He was surprised and said yes. "Then I told him, ‘Do you remember this boy?’ and he asked, ‘Who is this?’ I told him it’s me,"
Perin recalled.
Perin Malde X Priyadarshan In Billu
What followed was a truly emotional reaction from the filmmaker. According to Perin,
Priyadarshan was extremely happy and even called the entire team to share the moment. “He called everyone around. Even
Akshay (Kumar) sir and the crew came. They all realised it was the same boy from
Billu who had returned to their set in a much bigger role,” he added.
Perin also spoke about another emotional moment - the night before his first shoot for Bhooth Bangla. He received the call sheet listing his name alongside major stars, which made the reality sink in. “The call sheet had my name with all these legends in the primary cast bracket. That was the moment I realised it was finally happening,” he said.
Bhooth Bangla follows Akshay Kumar, a man who inherits a palace in rural Mangalpur. When he plans his sister's wedding there, strange supernatural events begin to occur, leaving locals panicked. He is forced to investigate the property's mysterious past that unravels secrets and lore. Akshay and Priyadarshan have previously worked together on films like
Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhagam Bhag, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, De Dana Dan and
Khatta Meetha.
