Ahn Sung-Ki admitted to ICU

According to reports from Osen and Sports World, Ahn Sung-Ki collapsed at his home on December 30 while he was eating. He reportedly went into cardiac arrest, following which emergency services were immediately alerted. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was administered en route to the emergency room. Medical teams worked swiftly to stabilise him before transferring him to the intensive care unit.As per the latest updates, Ahn Sung-Ki remains in critical condition and is under close medical supervision. Doctors are yet to issue a detailed statement on his prognosis. It has also been noted that in 2019, the veteran actor had revealed that he was diagnosed with blood cancer. However, it remains unclear whether his previous health condition is linked to the current cardiac episode.

Born on January 1, 1952, he began his journey in the film industry as a child actor, appearing in Kim Ki-young’s iconic 1960 film The Housemaid. Though he briefly stepped away from films to focus on his studies, he remained active in theatre during his university years at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. After completing his mandatory military service in 1976, he returned to acting with renewed vigour.His career-defining breakthrough came with A Fine, Windy Day (1980), earning him the Best New Actor award at the Grand Bell Awards. He went on to receive critical acclaim for his role in Im Kwon-taek’s Mandala, winning the Best Film Actor award at the Baeksang Arts Awards. Over the years, Ahn showcased remarkable versatility, starring in genres ranging from intense dramas to popular commercial films like Two Cops, which has made him a legend in Korean cinema.
