Indian health-tech wearable startup Ultrahuman has reportedly confirmed a data breach that allowed hackers to access the wellness data of some users. The company informed affected customers about the incident through email on Wednesday.Ultrahuman told TechCrunch that hackers entered its system using login details stolen from an employee's infected laptop. The company said wellness data of around 0.1 per cent of its users was accessed during the incident.According to the report, the breach took place on March 27 and involved an internal analytics system. The startup said it quickly detected the unauthorised access, took the affected system offline and revoked access to prevent further exposure.The company has not revealed the exact number of affected users. However,
based on its previously reported monthly active user base of around 700,000, the figure could be at least 700 customers.Ultrahuman said no passwords, payment information, production systems or Ultrahuman Ring devices were compromised in the incident.Millions Of Microsoft Office Users In India May Be At Risk Due To New Security Flaw“Our security alerting systems detected the incident within hours, and we closed the vulnerability swiftly,” Ultrahuman CEO Mohit Kumar said in a statement to TechCrunch.Kumar added that the company is informing regulators about the incident. It also declined to say whether the hackers copied or downloaded any customer information. Ultrahuman said the attacker only had 'read-only' access to the affected system. The company said its investigation into the incident is still ongoing.Founded in 2019, Ultrahuman is known for its smart rings and health-tracking products. Its devices help users track sleep, activity, recovery and other health-related metrics. The company recently launched the Ring Pro, while its Ring Air competes with the popular Oura Ring.
