Akshaya Naik Lauds Taskaree Co-Star Emraan Hashmi's Professionalism: Never Imposes Aura On Others | EXCL

Naik, who plays one of the smugglers in Neeraj Pandey’s taut thriller, Taskaree, agrees that Akkha Bollywood ek taraf aur Emraan Hashmi ek taraf! She is among those who got a chance to work closely with the senior actor in the early stage of her career. In an exclusive interview with Zoom, Naik called Hashmi a delightful co-star. She further praised his no-nonsense approach towards his work and observed the way he conducted himself with his co-actors, team members and the crew of Taskaree. Decoding her equation with him, Akshaya said she maintained a professional and cordial relationship.

Akshaya told us, "It was lovely seeing him come on the set, read his lines, ask the director what had to be done and give his own inputs to improvise. I like his professionalism. Yes, on the first day of the shoot, I was star-struck, but I chose to be on the observing side with him. Had I gone towards the fan-girling zone, it would have been difficult to enact those scenes. At the end of the day, we had to give our best scene and work as co-stars, not friends.”She further added that making small talk with him was unethical in her perspective, and it was necessary to calm the fan girl to stay within professional boundaries. “I like his work, but he is not my friend. We were colleagues and there was a lot to learn from him as he is a big star. I would observe him throughout. From the way he spoke to his co-actors and his own team, he was very calm and nice with all,” she shared.

Naik concluded by saying, “What people say is quite true. He carries his own aura and doesn’t impose it on others. He never makes his co-stars sense his stardom. For him, it is about getting work done correctly and not making everything revolve around him. While shooting for the first chase scene, we were in Worli village, and his car couldn’t enter those narrow lanes. The production team picked and dropped him off at his car on a scooter. Locals would be surprised seeing Emraan Hashmi on a scooter. Instead of creating a fuss about it, he understood the challenges that came with the location and cooperated with the team. This attitude makes a lot of difference.”Taskaree revolves around a team of customs officers who track down offenders at the Mumbai international airport. Akshaya plays one of them. The show is currently streaming on Netflix.
