model-influencer LizLaz has got embroiled in a controversy with Indian cricketer Virat Kohli over one of her bold photos. Late on April 16, reports surfaced that Anushka Sharma's husband had hit the 'like' button on one of her Instagram photos. Though he 'unliked' it later, things remain unclear whether his social media activity was accidental or an algorithm mistake. This is the second case where Virat has grabbed eyeballs for liking an image of another female artist. In 2025, Virat mistakenly liked a photo of Indian actress Avneet Kaur too. The matter blew out of proportion, and the sportsperson had to eventually issue a clarification. Now, with the second similar case, he has invited a meme fest and internet discussion yet again.
Who is LizLaz?
As per information available on the internet, LizLaz is of German origin and an influencer. She holds a Master's degree in Psychology. Her Instagram handle (@lizlaz_tv) suggests that she's an appreciator of art and culture. From an Indian saree to a Korean hanbok, she has posted pictures in traditional attire from several countries. She has even collaborated with many other influences from various nations, including India. Her handle also confirms that she's a vlogger, a foodie, and even a singer, which she has also mentioned in her Instagram bio, currently boasting of 433K followers.
Internet reacts with a meme fest
After Virat Kohli 'liked' her photo, several social media users started posting memes and reactions. A Reddit user wrote, "Anushka will be very upset." Another user joked, "cheeku bhai private id bnalo.." Someone noted Virat's repeated similar accident, calling it a "mistakenly registered interaction". One comment on Instagram read, "Chain se like bhi ni krne deta ye samaaj." A second user reacted, "@anushkasharma Bhabhiji unke phone se galti se maine kr diya tha."
Yuzvendra Chahal took a jibe
Meanwhile, Virat's cricketing colleague Yuzvendra Chahal also took a jibe. He joked in the comment section of LizLaz's post with the reaction, "Algorithm" and an emoji of a skull.
Virat Kohli's previous clarification during Avneet Kaur's case
Last year, after his like on Avneet Kaur's photo went viral, Virat wrote in his clarification, "I’d like to clarify that while clearing my feed, it appears the algorithm may have mistakenly registered an interaction. There was absolutely no intent behind it. I request that no unnecessary assumptions be made."
