The first Marvel project of 2026 is Wonder Man, an eight-part series that was released all at once on Disney+. In India, fans can watch the show on JioHotstar. If you’ve finished watching the superhero
series and have questions about what happens in that emotional finale, we’ve got you covered. Wonder Man introduced viewers to Simon Williams, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, an actor who is looking for a big break. The chance to audition for his dream role, Wonder Man, comes through, and he becomes friends with another auditioning actor, Trevor Slattery, whom Marvel fans will recognise as the Mandarin from Iron Man 3. So what happens to the two at the end of the show? Warning: Spoilers Ahead!
How is Trevor deceiving Simon?
After landing back in Los Angeles, Trevor (Ben Kingsley) has been working for Agent Cleary (Arian Moayed) from the Department of Damage Control (DODC). He believes Simon to be an "extraordinary threat" and is under a lot of pressure to get Simon to a high-powered prison for superhumans.
The struggling actor Simon has been keeping his powers under wraps, but when he gets emotional or angry, his powers erupt in destructive ways. So when Simon finds out that Trevor has been lying to him during a joint interview by The New York Times, he confronts his friend. A truly repentant Trevor confesses, and an irate Simon walks off to the sets of Wonder Man to clear his mind. His emotions get the better of him, and he explodes, torching the entire studio where the movie is being filmed.
Does DODC capture Simon?
No, Simon is saved by the most unlikely of twists. He goes home thinking his time is up and calls his mother, Martha (Shola Adewusi) to say goodbye. Instead, Simon gets a call from Trevor, who apologises and tells him to promise that he will live life to the fullest.Trevor, who has been cast as Barnaby alongside Simon in Von Kovak’s (Zlatko Burić) Wonder Man, resorts to his most famous persona. He makes a video as The Mandarin and takes responsibility for the explosion on the Wonder Man set. The DODC agents end up arresting Trevor, not Simon, in the end.
What happens to the Wonder Man film?
The cast and crew regroup, and Kovack tells Simon to use Trevor’s real betrayal for his performance. In the
Wonder Man film, Barnaby also betrays Wonder Man in a bit of meta foreshadowing. Barnaby’s role is taken over by Joe Pantoliano (playing himself), who took over another acting opportunity from Trevor at a key point in his career.
Now, Simon is free to become the Hollywood movie star he always dreamed of. His mother and brother, Eric (Demetrius Grosse), attend the premiere and his agent, Janelle (X Mayo), is proud of him and tells him he can have any project he wants now.
What does Simon do next?
Instead of starting the Wonder Man sequel with Von Kovak, Simon reconnects with an industry veteran named Chuck Eastman, and he tells him he needs to shadow him for a role. We never learn what the role but the new Hollywood star is spending all his time with him. He asks Chuck not to disclose this to anyone.
One day, Simon accompanies Chuck to the DODC, and then pieces of the puzzle begin to fall in. He enters under an alias and nonchalantly arrives at Trevor's, aka The Mandarin’s, prison cell. Simon is not there to say hi. Before anyone can figure it out, Simon uses his powers and flies them out of the cell. And that’s where Wonder Man ends for now!
Will we see Simon and Trevor again?
This is the MCU, so there is a chance we will get to see these characters again in some form or another. Trevor returned after 13 years for the Disney+ show. In the comics, Wonder Man is associated with the West Coast Avengers. There are two
Avengers films coming this year and next. For right now, Simon and Trevor are on the run, and fans hope that we can check in with them again soon.
