The Kaanta Laga actress, 42, died on June 27, 2025, at age 42, reportedly from a cardiac arrest, with anti-aging medicines and potential food poisoning being investigated as contributing factors, as per initial reports. Allegedly, Shefali was rushed to the hospital by her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, but was declared dead on arrival. A hospital staff confirmed the news and told a senior journalist, "Shefali had expired before she was brought in. Her untimely demise left fans, friends, family heartbroken and in shock. Today, on actress' birthday, her husband Parag penned a special wish alongside an adorable video of Shefali and his mom, who share the same birth date.

Shefali, who rose to fame through the viral song Kaanta Laga, was also seen in shows like Nach Baliye and Bigg Boss 13. Parag took to Instagram and dropped a beautiful video of Shefali dancing with her mother-in-law, who share the same birth date and penned a sweet note, remembering his late wife. He wrote, "Log bolte hain ki ek aadmi ki saphalta ke peeche ek woman hoti hai, I am so lucky i have 2 women, Pari & Mummy."

She has also acted in a movie, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. She had participated in shows such as Boogie Woogie, Nach Baliye 5, Nach Baliye 7 and Bigg Boss 13 as a contestant.
