earning Rs 100 crore during its theatrical run during the Pongal festival, Sivakarthikeyan’s much-talked-about period drama Parasakthi has found a new release on OTT. Directed by Sudha Kongara and starring Sreeleela in her Tamil film debut, the film began streaming on ZEE5 from February 7, 2026, in multiple languages. However, what has caught viewers’ attention is the release of the uncut Tamil version on the platform. The theatrical version in India had undergone 25 censor cuts due to violence and sensitive content.
Parasakthi OTT Release: Uncensored Version Of Sivakarthikeyan's Controversial Film Is Now Online
In a surprising move, ZEE5 has now made the uncut Tamil version available for streaming in India. While the film began streaming in multiple languages, including Telugu, the fully unedited cut is currently accessible only in Tamil. Parasakthi hit theatres on January 10, 2026, advancing its release amid delays surrounding other major releases.
The period action drama initially had the benefit for from wider screen availability during the Pongal holidays. Set against the politically charged backdrop of the 1965 anti-Hindi imposition protests in Tamil Nadu, the film combined intense action with emotional narrative. Despite the buzz and a strong festival window, the movie failed to sustain momentum at the box office.
Parasakthi OTT Release: Censorship Controversy
Before its theatrical release in India, Parasakthi faced scrutiny from the Central Board of Film Certification. The film reportedly underwent 25 cuts due to scenes involving violence, strong language, and politically sensitive elements.
As a result, Indian audiences watched a trimmed version in cinemas. Interestingly, overseas markets such as the UK screened the uncut version, allowing international viewers to watch the original version of Sivakarthikeyan, Ravi Mohan's film.

Directed by Sudha Kongara, Parasakthi features Sivakarthikeyan in a powerful lead role, with Sreeleela playing the female lead. The supporting cast includes Atharvaa, Ravi Mohan, Dev Ramnath, Prithvi Rajan, Guru Somasundaram, Basil Joseph, Papri Ghosh, and Rana Daggubati. The film is produced by Dawn Pictures and marks a significant milestone as the 100th film for composer GV Prakash Kumar. The team of Parasakthi celebrated Pongal with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 14, 2026 at a special event in New Delhi. The gathering was hosted by Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, L. Murugan.
