The
recreated version of Chunnari Chunnari in Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai landed the makers of the film in legal trouble after producer Vashu Bhagnani raised objections. A suo motu notice was recently issued by the court amid the ongoing controversy, which allegedly led to a delay in the trailer launch of the Varun Dhawan starrer. Earlier today, the team finally unveiled the trailer and came together for an event. While talking to the media, producer Ramesh Taurani responded to questions regarding the legal notice linked to the dispute. Meanwhile, Varun spoke about reimagining the iconic Salman Khan song for his latest film.
Ramesh Taurani Reacts To Chunnari Chunnari Row
Tips Industries Ltd's Ramesh Taurani said, "There is no problem in this. Whatever we had, has been sorted." He said that the promotional campaign and film's release would not face any delay due to the row. The producer also assured that there is no issue, and added that even if any concern arises, they are ready to resolve it. "And it's a sub judice matter. So, we are handling it," said Taurani. This came just a day after Vashu Bhagnani of Pooja Entertainments expressed disappointment over the recreated songs associated with his film,
Biwi No 1, for
Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. He said that although the songs were licensed to Tips Music, David Dhawan should have approached him personally and informed him about using them, especially since his son was part of the project. Bhagnani also questioned how the same songs could be shot again for another producer and stressed that ethics should be maintained in the industry. He also became emotional while speaking about his bond with David. He stated that financial matters were manageable but the situation had emotionally affected his family.
Varun Dhawan On Recreating Chunnari Chunnari
Meanwhile, Varun spoke about recreating the song with Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur and called it an exciting experience. He revealed that the team first heard the track while they were in Scotland and praised Ramesh for creating the song beautifully, adding that his music company handled the production aspects.Varun further explained that the recreated version was designed differently to match the comedy-driven narrative of the film. According to him, the main challenge was to fit the song naturally into the storyline and its humorous situation. He added that the confusion involving the character’s interactions with one or both female leads creates the "double trouble" comedy element in the film.
Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is set to release in theatres on June 5, 2026.
