Reflecting on her project choices, Shefali exclusively said, "It's been sheer gut instinct. So there wasn't a plan that, 'I will do this.' But maybe subconsciously, I was just drawn to stuff like this. And very early in my life, I realised I'm not going to be a star. I'm not going to be a heroine."

When she was asked about the reason behind it, the Delhi Crime 3 actress stated, "Because I love what I do. And at one point of time, actors were not stars. Either you were an actor or you were a star.It wasn't like today, where Alia's a fab actor, or Ranbir, or Ranveer, or all these guys. But I just love what I do. "And like I said, maybe subconsciously somewhere, I was picking something or I was drawn to something which, obviously, I believed in. I didn't know any other way of going about it. I really didn't. Like, until nine years ago, I didn't have an agent. I didn't have anybody to guide me and say 'ye karo'".
