recently watched Dhurandhar and shared his review of Aditya Dhar's film on social media. The senior filmmaker congratulated Aditya on Dhurandhar's success and wished him luck for the second installment. Now, in an interview, Priyadarshan has opened up about his long association with the director. Speaking to a tabloid, the veteran director revealed Aditya was a budding cricketer. However, he decided to quit cricket and chose to pursue filmmaking. Apart from that, Priyadarshan called him one of his best assistants and disciples.
DYK Aditya Dhar was budding cricketer?
In an interview with Mid-Day, Priyadarshan shared that Aditya wrote the dialogues for Ajay Devgn and Akshaye Khanna's 2010 film,
Aakrosh. "He also wrote the dialogues for Ajay, Anil Kapoor, and Kangana Ranaut-starrer
Tezz (2012). He is one of my best disciples and assistants I’ve ever had. Aditya is one of my loyal boys; he takes my blessings for everything."
The filmmaker further recalled his conversation with Aditya from the shoot of
Tezz. The
Dhurandhar director told his mentor that he was a budding cricketer.“It was during the shoot of
Tezz in Scotland that Aditya told me that he was a budding cricketer, in the under-19 team, but he didn’t get in because the son of a top Indian cricketer beat him to it. [Seeing his] depressed state, his friends took him to watch my film
Gardish [1993]. That day he decided to quit cricket and become a filmmaker," revealed Priyadarshan.

Dhurandhar has worked wonders at the box office. The spy-thriller, starring Ranveer, has minted over Rs 800 crore at the domestic box office. On the other hand, its worldwide box office collection is over Rs 1300 crore. Apart from Ranveer, the film stars Sara Arjun, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi and Akshaye Khanna.
