BTS
member SUGA did the impossible ahead of his May 17 concert in Stanford, California. The K-pop idol quietly completed a 12K marathon under his own name in San Francisco hours before he joined his bandmates Jin, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook on stage for their ARIRANG World Tour. Videos of the singer have since begun to surface online, showing the global star blending in with the rest of runners in the marathon. SUGA finished in 1,022nd in the annual Bay to Breakers race out of 20,530 runners, which is quite impressive to say the least!
SUGA finishes 12K marathon before ARIRANG concert
According to a report in
SFGate,
SUGA entered the Bay to Breakers race and woke up at 6 am to take part in the annual marathon. The 33-year-old ran under the name Min Yunki. The official records state that SUGA completed the 7.45 mile-long course in about 8:41 minutes per mile and finished the marathon in 1:04:43.
SUGA was able to return to the BTS ARIRANG tour stop in Stanford and reached the stadium in time. However, he performed the show with a slight limp, which could be due to some cramping. BTS' next stop is Las Vegas, Nevada for four shows and they will move on to go to Europe and the UK after that. They will return to the US and Canada in August for more shows. Later, bandmate and BTS leader RM revealed during a Weverse livestream that the singer is an avid runner who regularly finishes 10k a day. V also shared that Yoongi-hyung wanted to lose weight, and he had been running really hard in preparation. Jimin also said that SUGA woke up early in the morning to go and enter the marathon. He added, "Before the encore stage, his calves were so swollen that he was limping. We were really worried about him."
