Weds Rambai, featuring newcomers Akhil Raj and Tejaswi Rao has been receiving positive reviews at the box office. Directed by Saailu Kampati’s the film which released in cinemas on 21 November, has been inspired by a real incident in Telangana. While the film is still running to packed cinema halls, the film's distributor Bunny Vas, has given a clarity about the OTT release.
Raju Weds Rambai OTT Release: Makers Issue Clarity On Akhil Uddemari And Tejaswi Rao's Online Debut
Unlike most Tamil, Telugu films which release on OTT about four weeks after release, Raju Weds Rambai will arrive on streaming only after competing 50 days in theaters. This means the film is expected to start streaming online during Sankranthi 2026, in the month of January 2026.

Raju Weds Rambai is inspired by a real life story that happened in 2010 in a village in Telangana. Raju (Akhil)is part of a band which performs at marriages in the village. He falls in love with Rambai (Tejaswini Rao). Rambai’s father Venkanna (Chaitu Jonnalagadda) is known to be an arrogant man who works hard to hide his disability. He wishes that his son-in-law to have a government job. When he doesn't approve of his daughter's love, Raju and Rambai decide to elope and the rest of the film talks about their struggles in life.

Speaking at the event, Saailu Kaampati issued clarification about his earlier comment about standing with minimal clothing at a signal. “It came in the flow, and I am sorry about it,” he said, elaborating further that as a new director, he sometimes struggles to express himself well. “We new directors sometimes don’t know how to speak, so in the flow I said what I said about Ameerpet. I apologise for it.” He also said “I will perform with a band at that place. From outside, we will have the performance, and from inside the theatre, the film’s band sound will come out,” he said on a lighter note.Debutant Saailu Kampati is the writer-director for the film. Produced under the banners of Dolamukhi Subaltern Films and Monoons Tales, Raju Weds Rambai has music by Suresh Bobbili.
