According to reports, the 43-year-old was declared dead at a hospital in Dwarka at approximately 9:00 AM on Sunday. The singer was touring in Arunachal Pradesh and had returned to Delhi recently. He showed no signs of ill-health. Earlier reports stated it was a heart attack. The reason behind his death is yet to be confirmed.

Prashant is survived by his wife, Geeta Thapa (Martha Alley). The couple has a daughter named Ariah Tamang. The Paatal Lok 2 actor had penned a note for Geeta’s birthday on December 2, 2025. It read, “We’ve had our ups and downs, but every day we continue to grow in love. Enjoy your special day to the fullest! Happy birthday Baby.” Geeta is a flight attendant.

In a statement, Prashant’s friend Rajesh Ghatani said, Today, all the Nepali singers who go and sing on big stages, the courage to reach reality shows came because of Prashant. Even when I met him just recently, he was happily saying that he had done good work in Salman’s film. Through songs and music, he connected Nepalis scattered all over the world.” According to reports, the family is discussing whether to take his mortal remains to Darjeeling for the final rites or to conduct the funeral in Delhi. Before fulfilling his passion for acting, Prashant shouldered the responsibility of his family after his father’s death at an early age. He worked as a constable in the Kolkata Police and would sing in the police band.
