JP Dutta is returning with a sequel to the 1997 film Border after 29 years. Titled Border 2, the film's trailer was released a few days ago. And now, the war drama is inching closer to its theatrical release date.

The trailer of Dutta's Border 2 was well-received by netizens on social media. Before the trailer was released, the makers held a grand music album launch. The track Sandese Aate Hai was recreated for the second installment. Before Border 2 arrives in cinemas, here are 5 things to know about the project.

The ensemble star cast of Border 2 includes Sunny, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty. Apart from them, the film's female star cast includes actresses such as Mona Singh, Medha Rana, Anya Singh, and Sonam Bajwa. Media reports also suggest that Akshaye Khanna, Suniel Shetty and Sudesh Berry have cameo appearances in the film.

Border 2 Director

JP Dutta had directed the first installment of Border. While he is associated with the film as a producer, the second installment has been directed by Anurag Singh. For the unversed, Border 2 has been produced by JP Dutta, Nidhi Dutta, Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar.

Border 2 Release Date

Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh, will be theatrically released on January 23, 2026. Starring Sunny, Varun, Ahan and Diljit, the war drama will enjoy a solo release. It will coincide with Republic Day 2026.

Border 2 Runtime

According to Bollywood Hungama, Border 2's runtime is said to be 3 hours and 19 minutes. A trade source informed the entertainment portal, "Border 2 is 3 hours and 19 minutes long. This means that the gap between the two shows in most cinemas would be four hours. Assuming 4 shows of Border 2 are played daily, one can say that even three-screen cinemas will allot all shows to Border 2 and to no other film, provided they follow the directive."

Border 2 Budget
