Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur’s much-awaited film Dacoit has now shifted its theatrical release date. The film, which was originally slated to hit cinemas in March, has, as per the makers, decided to opt
for a more strategic window amidst an increasingly crowded box office. The film was set to arrive alongside two high-profile projects – Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar 2 with Ranveer Singh in the lead and Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups. As per the makers, the new release date for Dacoit is April 10. It seems that the makers are choosing to steer clear of a multi-film clash and allow the project breathing room of its own.March is witnessing a surge of film releases and major announcements across industries, Dacoit spearheaded by Adivi Sesh, has taken, what the team describes as a thoughtful recalibration of its release strategy. The decision, the team maintains, is rooted in keeping long-term audience engagement at the centre, rather than entering an overcrowded release corridor that could dilute attention across multiple big titles.
Led by Sesh, who also co-wrote the film, Dacoit is positioned as a storytelling-driven project that reflects the actor’s consistent commitment to narrative-first cinema. Further strengthening Dacoit’s creative foundation is the writing team behind Major, a film that was widely appreciated for its emotional depth, restraint, and disciplined storytelling. The film’s earlier release plan would have seen it arrive in theatres during an especially competitive phase, sharing screens and audience attention with
Dhurandhar 2 and
Toxic. According to sources close to the project, the makers of
Dacoit hold deep respect for both films and their creative teams, and strongly believe that every theatrical release deserves its own uninterrupted space to connect with viewers.
It seems that rather than chasing a crowded marquee date, the team is allowing audiences the opportunity to experience each film on its own terms. By moving to April 10,
Dacoit positions itself as a standalone theatrical experience, free from the noise of simultaneous big-ticket releases.Interestingly this is not the first change that
Dacoit is seeing. Earlier
Shruti Haasan was associated with the project, but exited midway due to creative differences, before Mrunal Thakur was brought in.
