We all know that AI has made spyware more powerful and easier to deploy than ever before. What once required expert hackers can now be done using advanced AI tools that secretly infect your smartphone and track your calls, messages, photos and even your live location.Cyberattacks targeting journalists, activists, business leaders and regular users are increasing rapidly. To tackle this growing threat, Google has announced a new Android security feature called Intrusion Logging. With this new feature, your Android phone will soon alert you if it detects signs that someone may be spying on you.Intrusion Logging is part of Android’s Advanced Protection mode, Google’s highest level of security for users who face targeted attacks. "Intrusion Logging enables
persistent and privacy-preserving forensics logging to allow for investigation of devices in the event of a suspected compromise. Intrusion Logging is currently rolling out to all devices running the Android 16 December update and newer," Google said in a blog post.Parents Will Now Know What Their Teens Watch On Instagram
Once enabled, the feature creates secure logs that record unusual system activity. These logs can help cybersecurity experts investigate whether spyware or forensic tools were used to compromise a device.Google says the feature is privacy-focused. The logs are encrypted and can only be accessed by the device owner. According to the tech giant, the feature was developed with support from Amnesty International and Reporters Without Borders. Alongside Intrusion Logging, Google has announced several other security upgrades coming to Android. These include protection against fake bank calls, improved AI-powered threat detection, safer app downloads in Chrome and stronger anti-theft features.
Google Will Change How You Use Your Phone With These Android 17 Features"Scammers often try to steal one-time passwords (OTPs) from your text messages to hijack your private accounts—sometimes using malicious apps that have been granted the SMS permission, To combat this, Android now automatically hides these sensitive security codes for three hours from most apps, ensuring your OTPs stay protected from unauthorized access while they are active," Google said.Verified financial calls will automatically end spoofed calls pretending to be from participating banks. Live Threat Detection will use on-device AI to flag suspicious apps, while new theft protections will make stolen phones harder to unlock.
