Vaapas Aaunga OTT Release: Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina and Sharvari's period romantic drama is one of the most anticipated Bollywood films of June 2026. Directed by Imtiaz Ali, Main Vaapas Aaunga is primarily a love story set against the backdrop of partition. It will clash at the box office with Kangana Ranaut's Bharat Bhagya Vidhata on June 12. While there's time for the film to release, its streaming partner has been revealed. Main Vaapas Aaunga marks Diljit's second collaboration with Imtiaz after Amar Singh Chamkila, which was a direct-to-digital release on Netflix. Interestingly, their upcoming film, co-starring Vedang and Sharvari, will also premiere on Netflix after its theatrical run. Having said that, the makers haven't made an official announcement about the period romantic drama's OTT release date. A Bollywood film generally lands on streaming after 45 to 60 days of its big screen release. The movie revolves around the love story of Vedang and Sharvari which turns tragic after partition. It is divided into two timelines and explores the themes of emotional detachment and separation.

First review of Main Vaapas Aaunga

Meanwhile, Ektaa Kapoor was among the first ones to watch Imtiaz's Main Vaapas Aaunga ahead of its silver screen release. The TV czarina and film producer shared her review of Diljit, Vedang and Sharvari's film on X (formerly Twitter). In her tweet, Ektaa called it a film which showcases how generations live, think and love differently. According to her, Main Vaapas Aaunga will leave viewers with 'heart-wrenching kind of love' of two people who fell in love when there were no mobile phones and digital media.

For Ektaa, Vedang was the surprise package of this movie. The producer shared that the actor has given a breakout performance in Imtiaz's directorial. Praising him further, she penned, "He is unbelievably charming, and as a sardarji, he is absolutely going to win hearts! So impressed with what he has done in this film." Ektaa also lauded Sharvari's strong screen presence, and hailed Naseeruddin Shah as an 'icon'.
