In
the ongoing legal battle between Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar's Excel Entertainment, both parties presented their respective sides of the story in the closed-door meetings held under the supervision of the Producers Guild Of India. While both Ranveer and Excel leveled allegations against each other, a latest report revealed that the Dhurandhar actor cited Shah Rukh Khan in order to present his justification. Excel has demanded Rs 40 crore from Ranveer for leaving Don 3 mid-day to overcome pre-production costs.
What Did Ranveer Singh Actually Say?
According to a source quoted by Bollywood Hungama, Ranveer Singh argued that he was not liable to pay any amount because he had not taken a single rupee from Excel Entertainment. He reportedly said that since he had not received any signing amount or payment, paying such a huge sum was not justified.
Ranveer also spoke about his experience with Baiju Bawra. He said he prepared for nearly a year for the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film and rejected several other projects. However, the film was later shelved and he was not compensated for his time.He reportedly argued that this is common in the film business. Sometimes films are delayed or dropped, and actors do not get paid for preparation. He said losses are part of the industry and cannot always be recovered from one person. The report further claimed that Ranveer mentioned Shah Rukh Khan. He said that if SRK had agreed to do Don 3, he would have been replaced without compensation. Hence, he felt he should not be asked to pay Rs 40 crore.
Why Is Excel Demanding Rs 40 Crore From Ranveer Singh?
Excel Entertainment, led by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, has reportedly asked Ranveer Singh to pay Rs 40 crore to cover pre-production expenses for Don 3. According to reports, the producers believe they suffered financial losses after Ranveer walked out of the film. The reported amount is said to include costs related to planning, scripting, and other early-stage production work. Excel has claimed that these expenses were incurred with Ranveer attached to the project. The matter is now being discussed within the Producers Guild, with both sides presenting their positions.Earlier, Ranveer had claimed that the makers of Don 3 were 'casual and unprofessional' about the project. He reportedly stated that Farhan never had a bound script for the film and focused on his acting career. Farhan, on the other hand, rejected the claims.
