Shefali Shah Reveals Failed First Marriage Assured 'You're Enough': Couldn't Be Somewhere I Wasn't Treasured - EXCL
Times Now
Shefali Shah has empowered her audience with scripts that celebrate women of all age groups. Highlighting their internal conflicts, insecurities and fierce strength, she gave a voice to many. But, in reality,
she struggled to realise that she is ‘enough’ to lead a happy life that’s free of expectations. In an exclusive interview with Zoom, Shefali recalled that her failed first marriage with Harsh Chhaya made her realise that she is ‘enough’ and can live the rest of her life alone. The Delhi Crime season 3 star further said she has reached the stage where pleasing everyone is impossible and tiring.
Shefali Shah on realising 'she's enough'
On Zoom’s Spotlight Sessions podcast, Shefali said, “Nobody told me you are enough. You don’t need a husband, friend, brother, or sister to be complete. You are enough. If you have great relationships, fantastic. If you don’t, that is not going to determine your value. Nobody told me that. When you go through things, you realise. It comes to a make-or-break point and that is when the realisation comes.”
Shefali Shah on first marriage
She added, “This point, for me, was after my first marriage. A dear friend of mine had asked me, “On one side, what if you never found love again in your life. Would you take that chance or continue?’ I said I will still take a chance. If I have to live alone for the rest of mine, I would do it. I can’t be somewhere that doesn’t make me happy and confident and not making me feel treasured. That’s when I moved out, stayed alone for the first time in my life because I’ve lived with my parents. As you start growing older, you stop caring. You are too tired trying to make everyone happy. That’s when I reached the nirvana stage, where I am not pizza; I can’t please everyone.”
Shefali married Harsh in 1994, and the couple got divorced in 2000. The actress tied the knot with Vipul Amrutlal Shah in the same year. They have two sons, Aryaman and Maurya.
