Ayushmann Khurrana On Social Media’s Impact
Speaking to IANS, Ayushmann reflected on his understanding of social media’s impact on movies. Pointing out the Blockbuster film
Dhurandhar, he commented on how Aditya Dhar and
Ranveer Singh faced these very criticisms before the release of their film. Further sharing an actor's journey, the
Badhaai Ho star said, “Every actor goes through a honeymoon period in the beginning of their career.” When asked, audiences become critical after the release of a trailer or teaser, does it make any impact on the movie? the actor told how one is flooded with love initially in their career, but soon after making a place for themselves, they face criticisms. He called out the audience for always supporting the underdog, but when a few are famous and reach the pinnacle of their career, they encounter critical audiences.
“And at the same time, we live in a day and age when you will not get unanimous love,” Ayushmann added that there is rebellion all the time. He reminisced about how there was criticism earlier as well, but now the actors get to hear it on every corner, every tea stall, because of the reach of social media.
Dhurandhar Craze In Ayushmann’s Word
Adding on to his comment, Ayushmann revealed how in the early days, they used to talk about such things openly, but now they only hear. “There is no trailer that got unanimous love recently... I mean, the trailer for
Dhurandhar 1,” he remarked on how the film had so much negativity revolving it. The actor recollected that even with the negativity around the trailer, he personally enjoyed the film, and so did the audience. In his concluding remarks, Ayushmann applauded
Dhurandhar for the benchmark that it set. Crediting the storyline and the filmmaking, he said any movie, whether big budget like
Dhurandhar or a small one like
12th Fail, will do well.
