Pranit
More has returned to Instagram after his account was suspended amid the recent Rs 370 biryani remark controversy. In his official statement, the comedian apologised for hurting sentiments unintentionally. He further said that the hate he has been receiving for the joke was justified as he could have stopped the person from making derogatory comments. Soon after the clip from Pranit’s standup comedy show went viral, the Maharashtra Cyber Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against him and Gurgaon resident Himanshu Jangra, who made objectionable comments about expecting s*xual favours from his date. Besides Himanshu, Dr. Sejal Pawar received backlash for her comment on laughing at the private parts of male cadavers.
Pranit More reacts to Rs 370 biryani row
In his official statement after the
FIR, Pranit revealed that his Instagram account was suspended amid the controversy. He addressed the controversy and said he deserves the hate for not stopping Himanshu from making derogatory remarks on the show. “
Jab main uss ladke se crowd work karva raha tha usmein kaafi derogatory cheezein boli but sab log uspe has rahe the aur main bhi carried away ho gaya aur mujhse lapse in judgement ho gaya. Yeh meri kafi badi galti thi. Main chahta tha toh use vahi rok sakta tha aur stand le sakta tha, joh main nahi kar paya. Maine usko ek platform diya jiski vajah se yeh cheezein itni escalate ho gayi,” Pranit said. (Translation: When I was getting crowdwork done from that man, he said quite derogatory things, but people were laughing, and even I got carried away. There was a lapse in judgement from my end. It was a blunder from my end. I could have stopped him and taken a stand against such remarks, which I clearly failed to do. I gave him a platform, and that’s why it escalated this much.)
More apologised for hurting sentiments unintentionally. He further clarified that he is cooperating with authorities related to legal matters. “
Bas aap sab se yeh request karna chahta hu ki aap mujhe ek chance do, main better insaan banke dikhaunga. Mere liye bhi ek learning thi. Main khud ke upar bhi kaam kar raha hu, apne content pe bhi kaam karunga. Yeh cheezein aap future mein mere kaam mein bhi dekh paoge,” the comedian added. (Translation: I request everyone to give me a chance to become a better person. I am working on myself and my content. You will definitely get to see the chance soon.)
Why is Pranit More facing backlash
In one of Pranit’s recent shows,
Himanshu Jangra revealed that he went on a date with a woman and spent Rs 370 on chicken biryani. However, after the date, he expected something in return from her, considering he had paid for the meal. Pranit faced backlash for laughing and moving on with the conversation.
