Pathak Kapur doesn’t need any introduction. The veteran actress is one of the finest character artists we have in Indian cinema. Now, she is all set to become a director. Supriya Pathak went to Cannes and announced her first directorial venture, Our Story, at one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world. The actress, in a recent interview, revealed that Our Story will be an Indo-Australian collaboration. The project was officially unveiled in Cannes. An Australian-Indian filmmaker, Anupam Sharma, has come on board as a lead producer.
Supriya Pathak Kapur’s First Project As A Director
According to a Variety report, Supriya Pathak Kapur’s first directorial venture is going to be a loose biographical feature, which has been co-written by her daughter, Sanah Kapur. Our Story is being developed under the banners Rabasusah and Australian production company Films And Casting Temple. Supriya Pathak’s Our Story is nothing but a project which is being made with the family members. Her son Ruhaan Kapur has joined the project as associate director and creative producer. The film will tell the story of the lives of three women across three generations of Pathak Kapur’s family, which includes herself, her late mother Dina Pathak and her daughter Sanah Kapur. The trio shares the screenplay credit.
Supriya Pathak On Our Story
While speaking about Our Story, Supriya Pathak Kapur said that the film is deeply personal to her. It will show the memory, family, womanhood and emotional inheritance that made them who they are today. The director considers the film very close to her heart.
The theatrical distribution rights in Australia, New Zealand and Canada have been acquired by Forum Films. Our Story is all set to make its first market outing at the Toronto Market under the Toronto International Film Festival in September.

Supriya Pathak has been working in the film industry for more than 40 years. She has worked in several films like Kalyug, Bazaar, Khichdi, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Satya Prem Ki Katha, Mausam, Jai Mummy Di, and so on. For the unversed, Supriya had earlier worked in an Indo-Australian project, UnIndian (2015), that featured Brett Lee and Tannishtha Chatterjee in the lead roles. Directed by Anupam Sharma, Unindian received a positive response from the critics and the masses.
