According to reports by Variety, short film director Rodrigue Huart is in talks to helm the project. Meanwhile, Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg - who co-wrote the previous Conjuring films including The Nun II

(2023) and The Conjuring: Last Rites (2025) - are returning to pen the screenplay. While deals are still being finalised, excitement is already building as the Conjuring universe prepares to expand its lore even further.Interestingly, this new film will serve as a prequel, diving deep into the Warrens’ early investigations before the events of The Conjuring (2013). That means audiences might not see Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson reprise their iconic roles as Lorraine and Ed Warren, as the story will likely feature younger versions of the couple portrayed by new actors.The news comes hot on the heels of the massive success of The Conjuring: Last Rites, which was originally billed as the final installment in the main series.
