who were looking forward to seeing the animated film The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender will have to change their plans. Instead of releasing in theaters in October 2026, the eagerly awaited feature film will instead premiere directly on Paramount+. According to a new report, all of the animated content from Avatar Studios, which produces the popular Nickelodeon series Avatar: The Last Airbender will be streamed exclusively on Paramount+. Directed by Lauren Montgomery, The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender continues the adventures from the beloved television series. Here's all you need to know about the upcoming film.

The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender will premiere directly on Paramount+ in 2026. That's not all. The new series
Avatar: Seven Havens is also being released on the streaming service. As both projects are being produced by Avatar Studios, Paramount+ will become the exclusive place for any content that comes out of the studio, which was formed in 2021.
The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender takes place years after the events of
Avatar: The Last Airbender and before
The Legend of Korra. It will follow the series' main cast in their young adult years. The original
Airbender series was created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. Steve Ahn and William Mata are joining Lauren Montgomery as co-directors on the 2026 film. The award-winning composer Jeremy Zuckerman will be coming back to compose the music for the film and the
Seven Havens series.
Voice cast announcements
Earlier, Dave Bautista, Eric Nam, Jessica Matten, Dionne Quan, Román Zaragoza, and Steven Yeun were revealed to be the voice cast for
The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender. Along with the streaming release announced, Avatar Studios revealed that Taika Waititi, Geraldine Viswanathan, Dee Bradley Baker, Peta Sergeant, Freida Pinto, and Ke Huy Quan are part of the voice cast.

Seven Havens has 26 episodes that are separated into Book 1 for 13 half-hour episodes and Book 2 for 13 half-hour episodes. The new series follows a young Earthbender who discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra but her new title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its saviour. She and her long-lost twin must find each other and save the Seven Havens before the world ends.
