Since the group has 13 members born across different years, enlistments are expected to happen in phases rather than all at once.

SEVENTEEN's fan meeting in Japan

On May 13, SEVENTEEN kicked off its Yakusoku fan meeting events in Japan. The concerts are being held at Tokyo Dome on May 13 and 14, followed by performances at Kyocera Dome Osaka on May 23 and 24. During the event, S.Coups spoke about the group's future plans and revealed that SEVENTEEN would soon enter a temporary hiatus following the Japan fan meetings and their upcoming 10th anniversary celebrations.

S.Coups leaves fans emotional

According to the idol, "after this fanmeeting and caratland in Korea, we are going to have a hiatus period. Until the day we all come back," strongly hinting at the remaining members will begin their mandatory military enlistment process too, making way for a break. S.Coups also reassured CARATs that he would continue working hard during this period so fans would not feel "distracted" while waiting for the group's reunion.

Many fans interpreted his comments as an indirect confirmation that the remaining members are expected to enlist before the end of the year, with 2028 potentially becoming the timeline for SEVENTEEN’s long-awaited return as a complete 13-member group once again. Social media got flooded with emotional responses with many expressing sadness over the group's temporary break while also sharing excitement and anticipation for the members' eventual reunion after military service.

About SEVENTEEN's military era

SEVENTEEN comprises S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino. Jeonghan enlisted on September 26, 2024, while Woozi and Hoshi enlisted a day apart on September 15 and September 16, 2025 for active duty. Other members are expected to follow in the coming months.

Members' enlistment periods will overlap strategically, so CARATs are expecting SEVENTEEN to continue doing some solo, unit, and partial-group activities during the military era rather than disappearing completely.
