Beyond Waverly Place, a threequel to Wizards of Waverly Place, the American Comedy television series that first premiered on October 12, 2007, on Disney, will mark Selena Gomez's return. The much-talked-about series will conclude this summer with a 'four-part event on Disney+ and Disney Channel, according to an international report. The second season ended with a cliffhanger, and now, there is a special announcement for Selena's fans. This time, she will not just act and serve as the executive producer. Selena is turning director with the premiere episode. She will appear as Alex Russo in a couple of episodes, too.

According to Deadine's report, Selena will be directing one episode of the four-part series. Reportedly, the shoot begins next week. The Wizards of Waverly Place franchise is about to end with the third season. The official synopsis reads, "Billie, still reeling from losing Alex at the end of Season 2, discovers that the only way to rescue her mother is to reunite with her long-lost father. As her family bands together to find Alex, Billie realises that their combined power is the only way the Russos can defeat the evil plaguing them."

The show, being a sequel and a spin-off to Wizards of Waverly Place, comes with expectations and popularity. While critics argued that the sequel was similar to its prequel, the inconsistencies are also questioned by the fans. One commented, "In one episode, they're in the air on a big float, and they come up alongside a fighter jet." The other section of fans is keeping themselves on their toes to follow up on the developments of the third season. Fans are also upset with the fact that the popular Disney franchise will come to an end with the upcoming season. Wizards Beyond Waverly Place has set a record high number of 101 million views on Disney’s YouTube channel. The show was acclaimed by both kids and young adults (6-11).
