Dhurandhar may be a fictionalised take on true events, but its characters are inspired by real-life figures. Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal plays the role of ISI chief Major Iqbal in the film, which follows an undercover Indian agent operating in Pakistan’s Lyari. In a recent interview, the actor opened up about the challenges of portraying such a dark character. Rampal, a self-confessed patriot, admitted he felt “horrible” playing a man believed to be the mastermind behind the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. He added that he wanted to detach himself from the role as soon as his shoots were done.Arjun told Grazia, “I wanted to get out of the character as soon as I could. One of the important reasons to do it was because it is an important film to do.
To see the event is one thing, but what happened behind the scenes to see those events taking place is something that would excite me as an audience,” said Arjun. He added, “I felt horrible when you’re doing it because you love your country so much, but I guess that’s what an actor’s job is, and you just dive into it.” About DhurandharDirected by Aditya Dhar, the film features Ranveer Singh in the lead and also stars Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt and Sara Arjun.
