How special was Ek Din for Pragati Mishra?
Pragati said that it had been extremely special for her. She mentioned that she came from a very small town in UP and had decided to become an actor in 2018. When she had started, she had no idea if she would ever get a chance to be a part of movies. She recalled that there was a casting director named Faezeh Jalali, who was also a film director, and who was casting for the film. "That's how I got to audition for this. When I knew that it was
Aamir Khan Productions, I was very excited. I did it for two different parts and four rounds of auditions. Finally, on the 14th of November, 2023, I was told that I'm locked for the part," she shared.
She further added that she had read the script and that it was a love story, mentioning that initially her character had some more parts to play as well. Pragati added that she had been really excited and had thought it was going to be a great project to work on. She said she knew that the cast was going to include Sai Pallavi and Junaid, and she had been a big fan of Sai. "And of course, I was a big fan of Aamir Khan. I was just really, really excited that this is the team I was going to work with in my first film. I knew how passionate and sincere they are when it comes to working on scenes. So, I knew it was going to be a collaborative project. Since that day to today, I feel very good," Pragati said.
What was Pragati Mishra's first reaction when she found out she'd be working under Aamir Khan Productions?
Pragati recalled, "I remember I was in my room, and my entire family was sitting with my grandma, who is over 95. I walked out of my room, told my father, and he told my grandma. I was extremely happy. My entire family was so happy and excited. It's a big deal for us. We come from nowhere, and this is a dream I had as a child. Just to be a part of the movies is a big deal."
How is it working with Sai Pallavi and Junaid Khan as a team?
She said that both
Sai Pallavi and
Junaid Khan were extremely disciplined, very sincere, and, most importantly, very collaborative. Speaking more about the shooting, Pragati added that they had a different climax scene originally, which was later re-shot. She explained that she had signed the film in 2023, shot it in 2024, and completed her portions, but was later called for a re-shoot in 2025. She recalled that during the first schedule, they had been shooting the climax scene with Junaid and Sai when she received a call from the DA of the film, asking if she could be available for a rehearsal on set, as Aamir sir would like her to come. She said she could not describe how happy that had made her."My background is in theatre, so the fact that we would go on set and rehearse before shooting the climax scene was exciting. Aamir sir, Junaid, Sai, the DOP, the director, and the direction team were all there. We did the entire day discussing the blocking and intentions, then shot the next day. Working in such detail was so much fun. Every time we discussed what we were going to do, the entire team was involved. The collaborative approach of this production is beautiful," she said.
Did Aamir Khan give Pragati Mishra any acting advice that stayed with her?
She said that she could not point out one particular piece of advice, but throughout the process, before shooting anything, they had meetings with Aamir. She explained that they would rehearse, discuss the scene, and their intentions. Pragati mentioned that observing him and working with him had been a great learning experience."He’s curious, a great listener, and values everyone’s opinions. He wants to know what you think and how you see the scene. All the days spent with him and everything I’ve learned from him is the biggest learning for me. I feel very grateful," she shared.
Any behind-the-scenes moments that are memorable for Pragati Mishra?
She recalled one special behind-the-scenes moment when she signed the film in November 2023. She explained that her first meeting had been with the director and Sai to read their scenes and get to know each other. The actress added that the second meeting had been with Aamir, where they read the scenes in front of him. Pragati shared, "I was very nervous because it was my first film. We read scenes in front of him for 1–1.5 hours, and sometimes he read the lines of our characters. After the meeting, he stopped me and said, in essence, that he saw my audition, liked it, and knew I could do the part very well. That gave me so much confidence. It’s a moment I’ll hold very close to my heart." When she was asked about her upcoming projects, Pragati said that she is not sure about whether she can talk about it because the makers will discuss it closer to release. But she mentioned that she did shoot another project last year and worked with people she has always admired. She also shared that it is a great script with a great cast, and hoped it releases this year, calling it a special film.
