Brar is currently judging the cooking reality show, MasterChef India season 9. The Sony TV show is indeed special in many ways. It is based on the Jodi theme and aims to explore the diverse Indian culture. Recently, in an exclusive conversation with Zoom/Telly Talk India, Ranveer reacted to the reports of him being called the toughest MasterChef India judge. He stated that he believes in being honest rather than providing comfort to the contestants. He called MasterChef the training ground for the real culinary world. He mentioned that the actual world is far more demanding, and the contestants need to be prepared for that.
Is Ranveer Brar Toughest Judge Of MasterChef India?
While reacting to the general mindset of people about him, Ranveer Brar said, “I don’t see myself as tough—I see myself as honest. When you truly believe in someone’s potential, you owe them clarity, not comfort. MasterChef is a training ground for the real culinary world, which is far more demanding. My feedback is always meant to be constructive, with the intention of helping contestants grow, evolve, and raise their own standards.” When asked about his feeling about judging this season of MasterChef India, Ranveer said that season 9 is deeply personal. He stated that the season not only celebrates Indian culture and recipes, but it also takes us down memory lane with emotions. According to him, the show also gives a geographical idea about India to the viewers.
Ranveer Brar said that the season allows contestants to tell their stories through food. “As a judge, it’s incredibly fulfilling to evaluate not just technique, but the thought, intention, and cultural honesty behind every dish,” the celebrity chef added.
Ranveer Brar On Bond With Vikas Khanna And Kunal Kapur
MasterChef India is also being co-judged by Vikas Khanna and Kunal Kapur. While speaking about the bond with them, Ranveer Brar said that the dynamic between them is very natural and complementary. While mentioning the speciality of both the celebrity chefs, Ranveer stated Vikas brings deep empathy and emotional sensitivity to the table, while Kunal offers balance, calm and mentorship.
Ranveer also mentioned that he bridges emotion and technique on the show. “We may have different perspectives, but we share the same intent—to bring out the best in every contestant,” the MasterChef India judge added.
