Recently, makers announced the release date of Awarapan 2 and netizens couldn't keep calm. The release plans for Awarapan 2 have undergone a significant change, with the makers now locking a new window for the much-anticipated sequel. The Emraan Hashmi-led film, which has been generating steady buzz online, is currently in production, prompting a shift from its earlier timeline.

Awarapan 2 Release Date Locked

A report by Bollywood Hungama suggests that the sequel is now being positioned for a major festive release. It was reported that the makers had initially been evaluating multiple options before finalising a slot that aligns with both scale and audience reach. The film will allegedly be released on Independence Day 2026, clashing with Sunny Deol, Aamir Khan's Lahore 1947.

The return of Emraan Hashmi as Shivam has further strengthened audience curiosity, especially among fans of the original film. The story reportedly picks up right from the dream sequence at the end of the first film. Shivam "comes back to life" and meets a new character, which will be played by the female lead Disha Patani, who assists him on a new mission.

The shoot of Awarapan 2 is in full swing as it nears completion to meet its April 3, 2026, deadline. Earlier, during an exclusive chat with Zoom, Hashmi shared an update on the much awaited sequel and said, “It’s got crazy music, it’s got fantastic, intense scenes. I’m not telling you anything right now, you’ll discover it when you see the film."

On his birthday, March 24 this year, Emraan Hashmi announced Awarapan 2 for the first time with a special teaser of its first movie, infusing nostalgia. The clip ended on the film's original logo with the addition of "2" confirming the sequel. Awarapan also had a re-release in February 2025.For the unversed, Awarapan (2007) ends with the tragic death of Shivam played by Emraan Hashmi during a final gunfight while saving Reema, allowing her to escape to freedom. Having found redemption and love through his sacrifice, he dies holding a vision of her safety, finally releasing him from the guilt of his past, allowing him to reunite with his past love, Aliyah, in heaven.
