Punjabi Tribune reported that a group of civil society activists made a public appeal to Diljit to enter politics. It further suggested that a group, led by retired bureaucrat SS Boparai, apparently wanted to see the singer lead. However, Diljit has politely turned down the appeal. The headline of the article read, "Can Diljit Dosanjh be the new political face of Punjab."Reacting to this, Diljit stated that he would never do it, and his main job is to entertain. The singer wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) handle that he is happy in his field.
Recently, on Jimmy Fallon's show The Tonight Show, Diljit opened up about the time people from Punjab weren't allowed to enter Canada. This was in 1914 when people, who went to Canada, were not permitted to enter. "That stadium is just two kilometers away from that port. That’s a big thing for us – 55,000 people in the stadium. They didn’t allow us to come, but now we’re here," he added.
