Whenever Diljit performs abroad, he proudly talks about the state of Punjab and its people. However, the singer isn't interested in politics. He recently turned down an appeal to be the new face of Punjab politics.

Punjabi Tribune reported that a group of civil society activists made a public appeal to Diljit to enter politics. It further suggested that a group, led by retired bureaucrat SS Boparai, apparently wanted to see the singer lead. However, Diljit has politely turned down the appeal. The headline of the article read, "Can Diljit Dosanjh be the new political face of Punjab."Reacting to this, Diljit stated that he would never do it, and his main job is to entertain. The singer wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) handle that he is happy in his field.

Recently, on Jimmy Fallon's show The Tonight Show, Diljit opened up about the time people from Punjab weren't allowed to enter Canada. This was in 1914 when people, who went to Canada, were not permitted to enter. "That stadium is just two kilometers away from that port. That’s a big thing for us – 55,000 people in the stadium. They didn’t allow us to come, but now we’re here," he added.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Diljit was last seen in JP Dutta's Border 2 with Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan and Ahan Shetty. The sequel to Dutta's 1997 film Border was theatrically released on January 23, 2026. The war drama opened to good response from critics and audiences alike. In fact, the film worked well at the box office.

Next up, Diljit will be seen in Imtiaz Ali's Main Vaapas Aaunga. It marks his second outing with the director after their successful Netflix film, Amar Singh Chamkila. Co-starring Vedang Raina and Sharvari, the period romance drama is scheduled for a big screen release on June 12, 2026.
