India has announced auditions in India, for to launch its next girl group. The label from its Mumbai office, revealed the dates of the nation wide audition for the same. On March 31, the company announced of opening applications. HYBE's headquarters in Seoul, South Korea, is home to K-pop icons like BTS, along with SEVENTEEN, Tomorrow X Together (TXT), ENHYPEN, LE SSERAFIM, NewJeans, BOYNEXTDOOR, TWS, and ILLIT. The company also features global-focused groups like &TEAM and KATSEYE. And following the global fame that Indian girl Lara Raj received after joining the girl group KATSEYE, India being chosen as the next country to have its very own K-Pop band proves the increasing clout of Indian marketand its impact on the K-pop scene.
When will HYBE India hold auditions?
The talent scouting is scheduled to run from March 31, 2026 to July 31, 2026.
Who can apply?
According to the information shared with the media, the audition invites female talent from across India, who are born between 2005 and 2011.
What are the qualifications?
Applicants must showcase their individuality and creativity across a range of performance categories. Application categories include vocals, rap, dance, acting, modelling, and more.
Where will the auditions take place?
The online submissions and in-person rounds in the audition process will be held across Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Pune. Cities will also host pop-up activations as part of the audition experience. More details on the same are awaited.
Why is HYBE India auditioning for a girl group?
The decision was taken by the label after a series of online and in-person research conducted across India in past few years. The company built its insight from a nationwide quantitative study of audiences in their teens and twenties, complemented by qualitative research across six key cities. The research was conducted with Nielsen. HYBE India decided to debut a girl group to showcase 'Harmony in Diversity' while bringing authentic stories and voices of today's Indian women to global audiences.

Damien Woochang Lee, CEO of HYBE INDIA, said the audition is seen as a fruitful first step towards the company's long-term commitment to the Indian market. He said in a statement, "India has never lacked talent or ambition—what’s been missing is a consistent pathway to the global stage. What we’re building is that bridge: a system that allows us to nurture artists with intention, and to be seen, heard, and understood beyond borders. This audition is where that process begins." In the meantime, HYBE in Seoul is neck-deep with BTS comeback, holding global promotions, while gearing p for the boy band's extensive ARIRANG world tour that begins from Goyang, South Korea from April 9.
