Ranveer
Singh’s Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, arrived on Netflix with a bang. It also catered to an audience who couldn’t watch the film in theatres due to the language barrier. Available in Tamil and Telugu dub, Dhurandhar grabbed attention once again after ruling theatres for weeks. Despite poor quality print and an alleged censored cut, the film’s popularity saw no dent. In the first week of its OTT release, Dhurandhar smashed many records. Aditya’s directorial performed exceptionally well on Netflix in the first weekend despite running in select theatres. Besides India, Dhurandhar was also trending in Pakistan on the streaming platform.

Dhurandhar 2 OTT rights
The teaser of
Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge was unveiled on February 3. It was the post-credit scene shown in the first part. Confirming the film’s March 19 release, the makers teased a bloodbath. With less than a month left for its release, a Bollywood Hungama report claimed that
Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge’s digital rights were sold for a whopping Rs 150 crore. The industry source revealed that Netflix had offered Rs 175 crore to acquire the streaming rights of both
Dhurandhar films together. However, Jio Studios decided to wait and eventually sold the digital rights of
Dhurandhar Part 1 for Rs 85 crore.
Yami Gautam's cameo?
Yami Gautam, the wife of director Aditya, has reportedly shot for an action sequence which will feature in
Dhurandhar 2. It is said to be a high-octane scene that presents the actress in a different light. This development comes amid rumours of
Uri – The Surgical Strike’s crossover along with Vicky Kaushal. Yami had an important role in the patriotic action thriller.
Dhurandhar's poor quality on OTT
The Netflix version of
Dhurandhar received criticism for poor colour grading and picture quality. Some netizens reported that Aditya considered the audience’s feedback and fine-tuned the film for the OTT print. When people pointed that Dhurandhar has been censored for Netflix, a source clarified, “It is the same as the theatrical / CBFC-approved version. As with all theatrical films, the three-minute runtime difference is due to elements such as interval plates or in-theatre ad requirements that do not carry over to digital platforms. This is business as usual and standard practice when films transition from cinemas to streaming.” Post this, the quality was improved.
