Spielberg’s Disclosure Day is inching closer to its release date. Headlined by Emily Blunt and Josh O'Connor, among many others, the sci-fi movie is much anticipated. Ahead of its release, Josh recalled receiving a call for a meeting with Steven Spielberg, which he almost cancelled. In a statement, the actor spoke about his interaction with the veteran filmmaker and what made him agree to play the lead in Disclosure Day. Josh further said that the script was still being written when the first meeting with Steven took place and added that the brief itself kept him hooked.

Josh O'Connor recalls receiving call from Steven Spielberg for Disclosure Day

According to O'Connor, Spielberg reached out to him in Spring 2024 to discuss Disclosure Day. “I was finishing up press for Challengers when my agent called and asked: ‘What are you doing tomorrow? Might you be free for a meeting?’ I was like: ‘Absolutely not, I need a break.’ They said: ‘It's Steven Spielberg.’ I was like, ‘Yep, I'm free’.”

The actor further added, “Steven and David Koepp were still working on the script, but what he told me was fascinating. I was intrigued by the Margaret-Daniel relationship: they are two very different people who do not know each other at all, but there is something bringing them together, something that addresses deep needs they may not recognise, something that benefits everyone. I was instantly hooked and could not wait to read what he and David were putting on the page.”

What is Disclosure Day

Disclosure Day’s official synopsis reads, "If you found out we weren’t alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you? This summer, the truth belongs to 7 billion people. We are coming close to… Disclosure Day."

The film also stars Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, Wyatt Russell, Elizabeth Marvel, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Michael Gaston, and McKenna Bridger. Along with them, Wrestlers Chavo Guerrero Jr, Lance Archer, and Brian Cage also feature in the sci-fi movie. In Disclosure Day, Emily plays the role of a Kansas City TV meteorologist and Josh is shown to be an alien life believer. They come together, attempting to uncover classified government files and reveal the truth to the entire world at once. Disclosure Day releases in India along with the USA on June 12.
