After
several stars from the South came out in support of Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan, Bollywood actor Sonu Sood is the latest celebrity to show support for the embattled film. The Tamil film was going to close out the superstar's acting career on Pongal earlier this January. However, the H Vinoth film has not been granted certification by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with its release date unclear. The film has been submitted to a revising committee and awaits certification clearance. Meanwhile, Sonu, like other actors, called for strict action against the leakers.
Sonu Sood supports Vijay's Jana Nayagan amid online leaks
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Sonu Sood wrote that it was heartbreaking to see that
Jana Nayagayan had been illegally shared online by miscreants. The actor and activist pointed out that sleepless nights and years of effort and passion go into making a film for the big screen and for those who are involved, it is like their baby.
He cautioned, "Piracy is not just illegal, it’s a complete disregard for every artist and technician behind it. This needs strict action." Sonu stated that he was standing in support of Vijay and asked fans to "respect cinema." The South industry has come out in full support of Vijay's delayed final film as big hitters like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Chiranjeevi, Suriya,
Rishab Shetty and Vijay Deverakonda have all spoken out against the leaks. The leading actors have all condemned the online leaks and called on their fans to stop spreading the illegally shown film in any shape or form.
More about Jana Nayagan
Besides Vijay, the ensemble cast features Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, and Priyamani. Written and directed by H Vinoth, the movie is said to be a remake of Anil Ravipudi's Telugu film
Bhagavanth Kesari. It was meant to be Vijay's swan song before entering politics with Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, the party he founded in 2024.
The latest update about Jana Nayagan reveals that the film's producers, KVN Productions, have brought in an Erode-based
anti-piracy firm called WarX to investigate the leaks. The company is working with the producers to trace the source of the leak. They will also gather publicly available peer-to-peer torrent traffic logs about the film as evidence for legal action. The makers have warned of legal action against anyone on social media accounts sharing clips or links to the Tamil film.
