Rakesh Bedi on his iconic line from Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar
In an interview with Zoom, Rakesh revealed how he continued to discuss his character with director Aditya Dhar. He tried his best to remain in the director's vision but it was his duty as an actor to add something that the director had not thought of. Still, he gave Aditya credit for thinking of nearly everything. Speaking about iconic line, the actor shared, "Every person I meet, or who wants to take a photo says, 'Sir, please say it for me.' If the person is not looking like my child either, say he has no hair on his head; still, I'm saying, 'Bachcha hai tu mera.'"

The veteran revealed that he could not know that the line would become so iconic but he said, "When the film first released in December 2025, the line caught on. Issmein se halki chingari nikalne lagi. Iss line mein se. Mujhe laga agar isko aur hawa di jae toh sholay nikal sakte hai [Small sparks started to emerge from it from this line. I thought if we have more air to it, then it would catch fire.] In the second film, it was more enhanced. In saying it and dubbing, it was enhanced. People really liked and were touched by it." Rakesh Bedi on his favourite moment from first Dhurandhar It wasn't an action sequence or a showy monologue that caught his attention. Rakesh Bedi went on to add, "One of the best shots that stayed with me in the film is a very small character but my god, that stays with me. Even today, I think of him and mera taali bajane ka dil karta hai [I want to applaud] for that actor. In the first Dhurandhar, there's a character who comes to killRehman Dakait's son; there's a killer who comes eating an apple. The way he's eating the apple and throwing the apple, he's come to kill. My God, I love that moment. And for that I give kudos to the director and to the actor also."
Starring Ranveer Singh, Sara Arjun, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt and Akshaye Khanna, the first Dhurandhar was released in theatres on December 5, 2025. The sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, premiered on March 19, 2026. Both films have become blockbusters worldwide.
