The Golden Globe Awards 2026 left fans a tad disappointed by not airing the Best Original Score during the live broadcast. Infact, Ludwig Göransson won the category for Ryan Coogler's Sinners, but his
speech did not get televised. Infact more so, it was presented by Stranger Things star Joe Keery and Charli XCX. The trophy was handed over to Ludwig during the commercial break, and hence the viewers missed all of it. Soon enough, clips from the segment started flooding social media, with netizens wondering at the Globes' decision to not air an important category, with some of the fan favourite names.
Internet reacts to Golden Globes not airing the award
As soon as the audience got to know about the missing segment, many took to social media to post reactions. A user wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "I thought I missed this category, but word on the street says it wasn’t aired? Why Golden Globes? How can you do that to Ludwig Goransson & Sinners overall? Totally ridiculous."Another user wrote, "what a lovely speech and win but bad form for this not to be aired on the broadcast." A netizen reacted, "So disrespectful for not showing this on air! The Golden Globes is an award show for influencers and those who don't like movies. All those long intros for the presenters, and we're cutting the actual winners?? What a joke." A second comment read, "Golden Globes not televising Ludwig winning best score for Sinners is NASTY."
Golden Globes producers explain their decision
Golden Globes producers Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss revealed why they did that. In a post-awards interview with Variety, Weiss said, "I’ll start by saying that it’s like when people say, “How come this person was nominated?,” and we don’t select the nominations. We don’t select how many awards there have been created, all that kind of stuff. So we’re being handed a certain number of things in a certain amount of time to do. But it’s sort of a bigger group discussion/decision.""Here’s what we brought to it, in my opinion: I’ve seen on other shows that they literally surprise winners by handing awards on red carpets, or different ways of doing it. We were really clear that if this had to happen, it should happen in the room. It should happen in front of their peers and everybody else," Weiss added.
Stating that the speech of Ludwig Göransson can be found online, he stated, "If a decision like this had to be made, we wanted to do it respectfully and make sure that there’s a clip there that we have when he mentions Ryan Coogler, we have a cutaway. It was important to us that what lives online is as respectful as every other award. It’s not just a name mentioned or a throwaway. So it was really important to us to do it the right way once the decision was made to go there."
