With a few days to go before the release of the final episode of Stranger Things, the Netflix series is making waves online as viewers are displeased with the narrative. On IMDb, The Bridge, which is the seventh
episode of Stranger Things Season 5 Vol 2, is the lowest rated of the entire series, and for the first time on Rotten Tomatoes, the audience score for the fifth season is rotten, not fresh. Is the show heading for a Game of Thrones-like response with its series finale? From the way the audience has responded with its ratings online, it does seem to be headed that way.
The Bridge is lowest-rated episode ever on Stranger Things
As the dust has settled after the release of
Stranger Things Season 5 Vol 2, viewers have been voicing their displeasure with the seventh episode titled
The Bridge. The ratings for the penultimate episode are now even lower than Season 2's widely panned seventh episode titled
The Lost Sister, which introduced the character of Kali, played by Linnea Berthelsen. The Lost Sister is now rated 6.0 on IMDb, while The Bridge has now fallen to 5.5 from 5.9 after its release with 71,000 reviews.
In comparison, the final episode of Vol 1, the fourth episode titled the
Sorcerer has the highest rating of the whole season at 9.5. In it, the creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, revealed that
the character of Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) had powers and was able to fight back against Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) and the Demogorgons.
Meanwhile, on Rotten Tomatoes, the audience score is rotten with a score of 56 per cent, while the critics score is favourable with 86 per cent. The seventh episode was co-directed by director Shawn Levy and the Duffers; the brothers have also written and co-directed the series finale,
The Rightside Up, which is premiering on December 31 at 5 pm PT. In India, the episode will release on January 1, 2026, at 6:30 am.
