The 98th Academy Awards announced the list of nominees and it's full of excting news. Hollywood star Emma Stone has just created history at the 2026 Academy Awards nominations when she got two big nominations on Thursday.
This solidified her place as one of Hollywood's most talented stars. The actor-producer was nominated for both Best Actress for her role in Bugonia and Best Picture for her work as a producer on the same film. This is a rare double achievement that put her in the Oscars record books.
Emma Stone creates history by scoring 7 Oscar nominations
The 37-year-old star has already received seven Oscar nominations, making her the second-youngest person in Academy Awards history to reach that milestone and the youngest woman ever to do so. As per a report in The Hollywood Reporter, Walt Disney was the only person to get seven nominations at a younger age. He did it in 1936 when he was only 34. Legendary actress Meryl Streep held the previous record for women. She was 38 years old when she got her seventh nomination in 1988. Emma'ss most recent award not only beats that record, but it also shows that she has been at the top of the film industry for the past ten years.
Emma Stone breaks major Oscar record
The actress also broke another important record by being the first woman to be nominated for both producing and acting in the same movie in the same year. Frances McDormand was the first to do this with Nomadland in 2021, and Stone did it again in 2023 with Poor Things. With Bugonia, she has now done this rare thing again, showing how her power is growing both in front of and behind the camera.Emma had five Oscar nominations before this year. She won Best Actress for
La La Land in 2016 and
Poor Things. Katharine Hepburn, who has won the Best Actress award four times, Frances McDormand, and Meryl Streep, who have each won three times, are the only three women to have won the award three or more times. Stone is getting closer and closer to this elite group with each new nomination.
