Cocktail 2: Pritam Finally Reacts To Mashooqa Plagiarism Allegations

The

makers of Cocktail 2 recently released the song Mashooqa from their music album. Picturised on Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, the track gave a glimpse of their crackling on-screen chemistry. Soon after the song was released, social media users claimed that the Cocktail 2 song had been copied from the 1993 Italian track Se So Arrubate A Nonna by Bibi and Coco. It was a part of their album Le Origini Vol. 2. And now, Pritam, who composed Mashooqa, has reacted to the plagiarism allegations. The music composer shared a note on his Instagram stories.

Taking to his Instagram stories, Pritam wrote, "Every single of my song release comes with set of self-appointed music detectives, who have created a new genre called ‘imaginary similarities’. Same people, same ‘inspired by’ thesis." He further mentioned that the people who made these allegations are acting as his 'unpaid PR Team'. The music composer ended his note by stating 'Not Nice.' As for Mashooqa, the song has been written by Abhijeet Bhattacharya, and sung by Raghav Chaitanya, Mahmood and Ruaa Kayy. Earlier, in an exclusive interview with Zoom, Kriti Sanon clarified that Cocktail 2 is not a direct sequel to Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty's 2012 film Cocktail. The actress mentioned that the comparison was bound to happen, however, the good part is that the second installment is more of a 'vibe franchise'. The characters, too, are different.About working with Rashmika Mandanna, Kriti stated that her Cocktail 2 co-star is genuine, lovely and warm person. "No insecurity. Just goodness, and I think I'm a vibe person. If I feel the aura and I feel positivity, I get drawn to it. I've just had so much fun with her, and she's just amazing," the actress added.

Directed by Homi Adajania, Cocktail 2 stars Rashmika as Divya, Kriti as Ally and Shahid as Kunal. The film, produced by Maddock Films, is scheduled to release in theatres on June 19.
