Will Dragon Be Biggest Patriotic Film? Prashanth Neel Explains His Efforts To Make Jr NTR Film Special

superstar Jr NTR surprised his fans on his birthday (May 20) by unveiling the first glimpse of his next film with Prashanth Neel, which is now titled Dragon. The 4-minute-long clip impressed all the audience as it shows Jr NTR in a never-before-seen avatar. Set in the 1960s, the pan-India film will show the emotionally charged incidents that take place over a periodic timeline. Prashanth Neel is very excited for his next directorial venture as he is attempting to make Dragon the biggest patriotic film of 2026. Moreover, the director also revealed that he didn’t use CGI to show Jr NTR’s well-toned physique.

Prashanth Neel’s Vision For Dragon

Prashanth Neel’s Dragon with Jr NTR is all set to hit the screens in June 2027. It is considered one of the most ambitious projects of his life. In an interview with Variety, the filmmaker said, “This is probably going to be our biggest attempt at making a patriotic movie.” For the unversed, Jr NTR is playing the role of Luger, the Assassin-in-Chief of the Afghan Trading Company. Luger is at the centre of a supremacy battle between the ATC and the Golden Trading Company shown in the film. After seeing Jr NTR in a completely different avatar, many netizens started questioning his physique and thought that the makers used CGI to show him lean.

However, Prashanth Neel rubbished such rumours and said that he never reshot a single scene till now. He revealed that Jr NTR wanted to be authentically fit for the film without any CGI. Hence, he would take some time off to build a body.

Prashanth Neel Gives Salaar Sequel Update

After KGF 2, Prashanth Neel made Salaar with Prabhas. The film got a positive response from the masses. While sharing the development about Salaar, he revealed that he will soon start the production work on the sequel after he wraps up the shoot of Jr NTR’s Dragon. Coming back to the Dragon, the film is releasing on June 11, 2027, in Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil. Dragon also stars Anil Kapoor, Rukmini Vasanth, Ashutosh Rana, Sidhant Gupta, Anshuman Pushkar and others in key roles. Prashanth Neel’s films with Yash, KGF: Chapter 1 and KGF: Chapter 2 turned out to be massive hits at the box office. He will also be coming up with KGF: Chapter 3 soon.
