When SRK opened up about his character in King
In a video from a fan meet, Shah Rukh Khan opened up about his character in King. He explained, “The labels of hero and villain are created by the audience. Early in my career, I did Darr, which by today’s standards might be seen as villainous or even stalker-like. I also did Don, Anjaam, and Baazigar, where I played the ‘bad’ guy. I feel that if we don’t make the story interesting, the hero just comes in, sings a couple of songs, fights, and exits."Talking about King, SRK shared, “The character is really fascinating. Siddharth and Sujoy Ghosh have written it with a lot of love, and it has a dark side to it. He’s a killer; he kills people.” He also opened up about the importance of playing diverse roles, saying, “For storytelling to be engaging, heroes like me must take on different roles, some inspiring, some comic, some romantic. That’s what I’m trying to do now. I do a big film every 1–2 years, because making films has become tougher. So I make sure to choose them carefully, to avoid letting people down.”
